Welcome to the BASIS International Schools blog! This blog will provide content that is interesting, helpful, and inspiring–to share information, stories, and ideas from across our growing network of international schools.

A Bit of History

To get you a bit more familiar with BASIS International Schools, here’s a little about us:

BASIS International Schools is a part of the BASIS Curriculum Schools network, which operates 37 schools across the United States and around the world, with more than 24,000 students during this 2018-19 academic year. The network was founded by two economists and educators–and parents–as a single public charter school in Tucson, Arizona, USA in 1998.

Since then, the BASIS Curriculum Schools network has grown to include 27 public charter schools in three states and the District of Columbia in the United States; five high-achieving private schools in New York City, Silicon Valley, California, and metropolitan Washington, D.C., in the U.S.; and five private international schools, including four in China and one in Prague, Czech Republic.

Acclaimed Curriculum

All 37 of our network’s schools–no matter the location and type of school–teach the acclaimed BASIS Curriculum, a high-achieving academic program that instills in students a love of learning, and raises their level of education to the world’s highest standards, often putting our students’ academic results years ahead of their same-aged peers. Indeed, BASIS Curriculum Schools consistently rank among the top schools in the U.S., and students who study the BASIS Curriculum regularly outperform their peers in high-performing countries.

International Growth

The first BASIS International School opened in Shenzhen, China in 2015. It was the largest opening of an international school in the history of southern China. Our network of international schools grew quickly with:

  • BASIS International School Guangzhou, opened in 2017
  • BASIS International School Hangzhou, opened in 2018
  • BASIS International School Park Lane Harbour, opened in 2018
  • BASIS Beginners Prague, opened in 2018
  • New schools opening in Nanjing, China, and Bangkok, Thailand in 2019

We are committed to raising the bar in international education by combining the BASIS Curriculum with our selection of smart, passionate, subject expert teachers who are given the freedom to teach in the way that best suits their students. The BASIS Curriculum–through these gifted teachers–inspires students to have that same love of learning; this is the foundation upon which all BASIS Curriculum Schools are successfully built.

As our global network of schools continues to grow, our new BASIS International Schools blog will grow as well. You’ll read stories and reflections from our teachers on what teaching abroad is like, fun and unique experiences from other members of our teaching community, “light bulb” student moments, and much more. Our stories will come from a variety of contributors, including teachers and school administrators, and many more members of the BASIS International Schools community.

Nice. I am glad that I came across to your website. BASIS International School figures speak for it – 37 schools + 24,000 students WOW, Amazing. But the best thing i liked about BASIS International School is the way you are selecting your teachers – smart, passionate, subject expert and giving them the freedom to teach in the way that best suits their students. This is what sets you apart from the rest of international schools across the globe. Thanks for putting up this amazing history and information about your school.
