Sports at BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China go beyond the arena and are integrated into daily campus life. Despite rigorous academic study, our students actively participate in various sports programs. BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China offers a diverse range of athletic activities: volleyball, soccer, basketball, rugby, swimming, tennis, table tennis, frisbee, and more. Students pour their passion into sports, fostering holistic growth.
BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China has established a comprehensive sports development program spanning all grade levels. Starting from foundational PE lessons, primary students explore sports through playful competitions, while middle and high schoolers engage in more competitive activities. Beyond the classroom, two avenues are offered: joining school teams or extracurricular clubs. Varsity teams provide opportunities to compete in local and regional leagues, empowering aspiring athletes to reach new heights. Clubs cater to interest-driven learners, allowing them to enjoy the joy of sports. Our schools invest heavily in sports education, providing top facilities, professional coaches, and medical and logistics resources, laying a solid foundation for students’ athletic development.
The 2025 BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China Athletic League (BIBS · CAL) brought together nearly 1,000 students and faculty from BASIS International School Shenzhen, BASIS International School Guangzhou, BASIS International School Hangzhou, BASIS International School Park Lane Harbour, BASIS International School Nanjing, BASIS Bilingual School Shenzhen, BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu, BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Wuhan, and BASIS Bilingual School Guangming in Shenzhen to compete across five sports. Students showcased exceptional athletic skills and spirit at this annual grand event. As Samantha Straky, volleyball coach of BASIS International School Shenzhen, said, “BIBS · CAL is significant because it highlights how students are not just focusing on academics in the BIBS · C Network. We are known for pushing academics and having high levels of teachers and students, but sometimes, people don’t realize that students do a lot more than that, too. Not only are they artists or performers, but they’re also athletes.”
In 2026, BIBS · CAL will expand to include events such as table tennis, badminton, and tug-of-war, while expanding participation to more age groups across all campuses, ensuring students of diverse grade levels can engage in this grand sports event.
BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China has built a vibrant sports culture that reflects its commitment to holistic education. Sports go beyond competition, forming arenas for holistic education. The focus, teamwork, and perseverance that students develop in the field have laid the foundation for their academic growth, shaping them into well-rounded individuals both physically and psychologically.
