Our very first BASIS Experiences trip was an incredible success! It was a big send-off as a group of pioneering students at BASIS International School Bangkok (BISB) embarked on a quest to learn more about global climate change and explore the beautiful West Coast of the United States.The students and staff from BASIS International School Bangkok partnered with WorldStrides and BASIS Independent Schools to participate in a program that gave students a meaningful academic experience as well as an international immersion and a contact with BASIS students and families from across the globe. From San Francisco to Seattle, our young scholars ventured on a journey of a lifetime, immersing themselves in nature, culture, and cutting-edge educational experiences.
A Journey of Exploration
The BASIS Experiences trip took our students through a whirlwind of unforgettable adventures. They climbed mountains in Yosemite, hiked through the majestic Redwood Forests, and kayaked in the San Francisco Bay. Our young scholars had the privilege of visiting prominent institutions like Stanford University, Apple, Meta, Boeing, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and even the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Moreover, they had the unique opportunity to celebrate American Independence Day, embracing the culture and spirit of this vibrant nation.
But it didn’t end there! Our students also engaged in a special project week, collaborating with friends at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley and completing a group project while staying at Berkeley University. This initiative not only strengthened their academic acumen but also fostered meaningful connections with students and faculty at our esteemed sister school.
The BASIS International School Bangkok students took a day to visit the BASIS Independent Schools (BINS) flagship school BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. During the visit, students toured the campus, participated in fun games and competitions, and got a chance to meet students and families from the four BINS campuses in California. This year BASIS International School Bangkok and BASIS Independent Silicon Valley will celebrate important milestones with BASIS International School Bangkok marking 5 years of operation and Silicon Valley celebrating a decade of successes.

STEM Workshop – Fostering Innovators and Change-Makers
During the STEM Workshop held at The University of California, Berkeley, our students delved into critical global issues and explored how STEM can be the driving force in addressing these challenges. With a focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, they channeled their creativity and technical skills to design and construct robots that could mitigate the impact of climate change on the environment. The process of planning, coding, and presenting their creations to distinguished guests and visiting families left a lasting impact, empowering them as agents of change.
Immersing in the Wonders of Nature
Before returning to Thailand, our students embarked on a captivating journey from San Francisco to Seattle, exploring the awe-inspiring beauty of nature along the way. They witnessed the captivating power and magnificence of our natural world in Redwoods National Park, the pristine splendor of Crater Lake, and the magnificent Mount St. Helens Volcano. The visit to The Museum of Flight added a touch of wonder as they encountered an incredible collection of aircraft and spacecraft.
An Unforgettable Experience
The BASIS Experiences trip has undoubtedly left a permanent mark on our students. The memories of exploration, discovery, and academic growth will forever resonate with them.
