Community is more than a word at BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu, it’s something you feel the moment you arrive. In this reflection, Jessica Owens, Grade 4 Humanities Teacher, shares her firsthand experience of a school defined by warmth, care, and dedication, where thoughtful teaching, meaningful connections, and a supportive environment come together to shape daily life on campus.

A Welcoming Campus Community

The BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu community is a place where warmth, care, and dedication come together to create an exceptional learning environment for students. From the moment you step onto the campus, there is a sense of friendliness and calm that sets the tone for meaningful learning and genuine connection. The environment is not only welcoming but also clean, organized, and thoughtfully maintained to support both academic engagement and students’ overall well-being.

Dedicated Teachers Who Go the Extra Mile

Faculty Community in Chengdu

One of the most remarkable aspects of the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu community is the commitment shown by the teachers. They consistently demonstrate deep care for their students, not only through their encouraging attitudes but also through the tremendous effort they put into their teaching. Every lesson reflects intentional planning, thoughtful pacing, and a desire to see students succeed. The teachers work diligently to ensure that students are learning, growing, and performing to the best of their abilities. This level of dedication does not go unnoticed—it creates a culture where students feel supported and motivated to do their very best.

Building Connection Through Food and Activities

Another standout feature of the school is the food program. Meals are usually delicious and prepared with care, adding to the nurturing atmosphere of the campus. For many students, lunchtime becomes something they genuinely look forward to, not only because of the food itself but because it marks another moment of community and connection during the day.

The school also shines in the variety of activities it offers. Creative, educational, and engaging experiences are planned both in and out of the classroom to encourage curiosity and active learning. These activities help students develop teamwork skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Whether it is a hands-on project, a collaborative group task, or a special event, students are given many opportunities to explore new ideas in meaningful ways.

A Community That Inspires Gratitude

Professional Development: Community in Chengdu Community in Chengdu

As a member of this community, I feel truly welcomed and grateful to be part of such a supportive environment. The positivity of the staff, the thoughtful structure of the programs, and the strong sense of community all contribute to an experience that feels both inspiring and reassuring. There is a shared commitment among teachers, administrators, students, and families to create the best possible educational experience, and that unity is felt every day.

More Than a School—A Place to Belong

BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu is more than just a place of learning—it is a place where people care, where effort is valued, and where students are guided with sincerity and purpose. I am extremely thankful to be part of such a wonderful community and look forward to continuing to contribute to the collective success and spirit of this remarkable school.
