This year marks a historic moment for BASIS Bilingual School Shenzhen as its inaugural graduating class crosses the finish line. The 25 seniors in this first cohort comprise the first graduating class from a bilingual school in the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network. They have not only brought drive and talent to their studies but also achieved outstanding results, earning 146 university admission offers and US$673,080 in scholarships.
Carrying forward the Ivy League tradition first established by BASIS International School Shenzhen, this graduating class secured an Ivy League acceptance from Cornell University. Eight students stood out in the early decision round, receiving offers from top-tier institutions such as Emory University, New York University, and elite liberal arts colleges, including Wesleyan University. One student even received dual admission from both Emory College and Oxford College, a rare accomplishment considering the extremely competitive process for international students.

Graduation Parade
The Class of 2025 gathered at the school’s west gate, retracing the steps they once took as new students. But this morning was different—it was their last as BBSZ students. As they began their graduation parade, they were met with cheers from every corner of campus. Kindergarteners waved hand-drawn cards, and students from all divisions lined hallways and balconies, clapping and calling out their support.
With each step through the academic building, graduates were showered with flowers, cards, and heartfelt blessings. The celebration reached its peak in the lobby, where confetti flew, teachers offered handshakes, and the Head of School reminded students to carry the memory of this moment forward as a source of strength. As the final cheer echoed across campus, it was clear: this was not just a goodbye, but a joyful sendoff into the future.
Graduation Ceremony
The graduation ceremony began as students entered the theater, waving to families, teachers, and classmates under soft lighting—each step filled with gratitude and reflection. The choir’s stirring performance set the tone, echoing themes of perseverance and hope shared throughout the event.
In Ms. Jennie Pan’s opening address, she centered on themes of perseverance and determination, recounting the school’s evolution and extending heartfelt wishes to the graduates. She emphasized the importance of maintaining an unyielding resilience through life’s challenges, urging all to hold fast to their original aspirations and relentlessly pursue their dreams.
Teacher representative Dr. Shahid reflected on the meaningful journey shared between teachers and students and praised the spirit of resilience and determination the students have shown, growing through challenges and forging ahead in their pursuit of knowledge. He encouraged the graduates to carry forward the sense of responsibility as “ambassadors of BBSZ,” to remain resilient in top universities, embrace innovation, and give back to society with what they have learned, creating greater value in the world.
Isabella, representing the class of 2025, shared her journey—from initial uncertainty to steadfast confidence. She reflected on her role as the first student council president and the milestones that shaped her growth, evoking collective pride in how far they had come.
