A new school year is officially underway across the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network. After a summer of preparation, campuses are once again filled with students, teachers, and families coming together for the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. The opening weeks have included orientation days, family events, new learning spaces, faculty preparation, and plenty of opportunities for school communities to reconnect. While every campus has its own traditions, each of these moments play a role in creating a strong start to the year ahead.
Welcoming Students Back
The start of school brings a familiar energy back to campus.
Orientation events across the network have included teacher meet-and-greets, campus tours, welcome activities, and opportunities for new and returning students to get to know one another. Thoughtfully prepared welcome materials and organized registration activities helped families navigate the return to campus, while Buddy Programs gave returning students the chance to help new classmates explore school spaces and settle into their new communities.
Together, these experiences help make the transition into a new grade level or an entirely new school community feel more familiar from the start.
Connecting Teachers and Families
Curriculum Nights, parent sessions, and classroom visits give families a closer look at what students will experience throughout the year. Teachers have been sharing information about curriculum, daily routines, learning support strategies, and the ways schools and families can work together to support student growth.
Parents have had the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about classroom expectations, and connect directly with the educators who will be working with their children. These early conversations help establish the communication and partnership that will continue throughout the academic year.
Campus Preparations and Improvements
Throughout the summer, teams across our campuses worked behind the scenes to prepare classrooms, complete facility improvements, review safety measures, and ensure learning environments were ready for students and teachers.
That work included everything from routine maintenance, health protections, and classroom readiness to larger campus improvements. New learning spaces are also creating additional opportunities for hands-on learning, such as a new Makers Space designed to support robotics, ICT, science, and project-based learning. Whether it is a major improvement or the many smaller details students may never see, these preparations helps create an environment where teaching and learning can begin from day one.
Teachers Preparing Together
Before students return, teachers across the network spend time preparing for the year ahead. A network-wide Summer Institute followed by individual onsite trainings have brought new faculty together with returning educators and school leadership to learn, collaborate, and prepare for their school communities.
These opportunities give teachers time to become familiar with programs, expectations, and campus routines while also learning from colleagues who bring experience from across the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network.
New Beginnings Across Our Network
This school year also brings an especially significant milestone with the opening of two new BASIS Bilingual Schools.
BASIS Bilingual School Beijing and BASIS Bilingual School Guangzhou are preparing to celebrate their official opening ceremonies, bringing together founding faculty, students, families, and school leaders to mark the beginning of their first academic years. These celebrations will represent the next chapter in the continued growth of the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network.
